i spend most of my free time on the internet (i practically grew up here!), though i still have lots of hobbies offline
Hobbies
i've been playing the piano for nearly a decade now, though i'm still pretty terrible at sightreading in all honesty. i've recently picked up digital music composition, but i don't have my own money to purchase any fancy DAWs. (don't send your money!!) i used to make most of my music on onlinesequencer but i've recently been experimenting with beepbox aswell. i've also picked up drawing again and have been studying how to actually draw (hands are hard so i just opt for muppet hands). lastly, i do (or attempt to do) gamedev on roblox sometimes. still deciding on which of my many ideas for games should i focus on
Games I like
- Outer Wilds
- One of the greatest exploration/puzzle games of all time in my opinion. The soundtrack, narrative and gameplay loop are incredible - one could
even say they're "stellar".
Don't spoil yourself before playing the game!! - Celeste
- One day, Maddy (the game's creator) took a look at her PICO-8 platformer, and thought "How could I shape this up into one of the most challenging yet fun 2D platformers of all time?" The result was an absolute masterpiece, with fun mechanics, a wonderful story about self-reflection, and a BANGER soundtrack - not to mention the tons of content from the community!
- Undertale / Deltarune
- Toby Fox made the best RPG game by far in 2015, and revealed that this was only step one of his masterful operation. He then made Deltarune, a game that's currently TWICE as long and a masterclass in practically everything. What a legendary team.
- Honorable Mention: Block Tales (on roblox)
- This game might seem a little generic on the surface, but when you're a Roblox player like me who's suffering from the constant drought of fun, a great story with an even better soundtrack goes a LONG way.
My experience with Roblox
i never had enough courage to "convince" my parents to buy video games for me, so i was basically stuck with Roblox for a while;
the little guy you see on the left is based off of my avatar on Roblox.
i've gone through a pretty weird route while searching for treasure in Roblox's homepage,
and now i've got an unhealthy obsession with everything retro (which is partly the reason why i'm here)
as i mentioned in the Hobbies section, i'm interested in making my own game on roblox, primarily puzzle/minigame genre games.
once i get better at gamedev, i plan on making a sandbox exploration game that takes place in space, inspired by the many
gimmicks and antiquities of the old Internet.
what's my current opinion on the state of roblox? well, i'm not entirely sure; i just want better games so i don't have to play
Combat Initiation all the time. it's upsetting, but
the lack of actually interesting games on roblox is what inspired me to try and take up gamedev in the first place.
